Worth remembering that Iran did not retaliate against the US when Israel attacked them in the 12-day war last year so why would they this time, as Matt suggested, especially in the middle of negotiations
Thank you Matt. Another very interesting conversation. Gordon's whole body language suggested to me that these developments of US attacking Iran are very troubling to him and shaking his erstwhile firm support for Trump.
Some specific feedback from me - at the very beginning you pointed out that up until now some terrible things were said [by Trump], but relatively reasonable actions were taken. So sure, terrible things were said about Venezuela. But do you really think murdering dozens of people in small boats on the high seas far away from the US with zero due process, and kidnapping the elected head of state of a sovereign country (murdering dozens of people in the process) were “relatively reasonable actions”? Just sayin’!
Re: the girls' school. We now know that the US bombed the girls’ school, from Tomahawk parts found at the scene, though I’m sure Israel would have done it too. Scott Ritter laid out how that happened, claiming that the US cut corners in their targeting process (thanks to Pete Hegseth!), by not verifying that all targets were non-civilian. He said it’s been known for 10 years that that building was a school, and not part of the nearby naval base.
I very much appreciate your repeatedly debunking the utterly false notion that Iran is run by City of London and hence fair game. Thank you for that!
Re insurance industry, and Gordon's last ditch attempt to find something redeeming in Trump claiming he’ll now provide insurance for ships stuck in the Persian Gulf. That wouldn't do anything to harm the big insurance companies, which are protecting themselves from risk by cutting off policies. They’ll be just fine with the rest of their business. And how will Trump make the high payouts when tankers are hit and destroyed? How much will the premiums cost and who will pay them? It’s easy to throw around fake monopoly money when you’re already in debt up to your eyeballs.
Well, now with all the dots we can see that Trump is working for the British… 🤨
