Morris collaborated with the Jacobins and instigated the imprisonment of Thomas Paine 1793, according to “The Life and Works of Thomas Paine,Vol V, pub 1925, (Letters and Dissertations). All above set the stage for the treacherous Jay Treaty, which subjugated American commerce and favored the British, leading to the war of 1812 and Morris’ later endorsement at the Hartford Convention for secession of New England and New York.
