Outstanding insights, interpretations and analysis of areas of history tracing back centuries are provided by Matt as he simultaneously outlines how these inform the present.
Also striking.was Matt’s close to the interview where he acknowledged how mistakes of the past have led to so much subsequent suffering that devastates our world to this day. Matt’s observation that humanity must urgently reverse this dystopian reality which faces the globe and that the time available to do this is limited resonated deeply for me. As Matt pointed out if we do not respond urgently to the ills we face we may find that even conversations like the one in this interview may well have become impossible.
The Anglo-Norman continuum. We are all Vikings (except me, and maybe you).
William I's successful blueprint for Government by the Baron Class he created should be followed by enquiring minds. If one allows that this inference is correct, many aspects of modern "Five Eyes" politics become clearer to understand. And we do need, now, to start practising the art of clear thinking.
Be great if Matt went onto substack where you can get a transcript of talk/s (as in not go off to rumble etc - where you cannot get a transcript). I much prefer to read than listen.
What's all this crap about technocracy you hear about endlessly, nowadays? It doesn't even come remotely close to the reality. What we have and are increasingly having is IDIOCRACY or KAKISTOCRACY, rule by the most incompetent. They're so bad at what they do you really have to conclude they must be trying hard to be screwups.
Good example, typical minister of energy Ed Miliband. Zero tech knowledge or experience, as expected. If they have an excellent engineer in their caucus with seniority, they may relegate him to something like minister of Veterans Affairs. Just read David Turver's substack to get endless examples of how incredibly incompetent screwups these morons are in energy, in that case in the UK. Ed Miliband couldn't manage an Ice Cream truck, it would go bankrupt in weeks. Good example:
The CCC Clams Up and Goes Insane
The CCC refuses to answer FOI requests and the 7th Carbon Budget repeats an earlier mistake when calculating storage requirements.
How on Earth can anybody call these grifters technocrats? In the USA, DOGE revelations never fail to amaze us at their level of incompetence. Basic bicycle shop accounting procedures are way beyond them.

Thank you, Matt, for all your work and insights.
Spiritually Grateful.

Well, I guess it’s p o s s I b l e …… but my gut says no, and my heart says, it can’t bear to consider the death of hope
