As Alastair Crooke recently observed in ‘The World Doesn’t Work That Way Anymore’, the new school of political economy generated by philosophers like Adam Smith, John Locke, and Rousseau premised their systems of social management upon the “science” of Sir Isaac Newton. In his insightful essay, Crooke writes:

I've heard of Carey but haven't known much about him. Thank you for this, Matt. Was another person influenced by him William Jennings Bryan? His monetary policy seems similar.
This is heartening because I'm putting out another episode about my monetary system and sometimes it seems impossible that we'll ever have a chance to reinvent the economy. This reminds me that it's inevitable.
