Good history lesson but the question remains what were the Emperor and his Patsy really discussing with their 'amigo'? He's flirting with BRICs and remaining pals with Poutine, so did they come to make an offer he couldn't refuse?
That Maya train isn't going anywhere near the bordering countries and the problem people here see isn't so much the rail line as all the tourist infrastructure that's coming alongside. It stops at Palenque because on the western side of that town are local roadblocks and carjackings to inhibit same.
