For Putin meeting with Kissinger: In real life you have to interface with people you don't like and in politics that often means putting on a polite public face for diplomacy. Doesn't mean you are actually buddies. Kissinger's entire life has been devoted to forms of social organization that run contrary to everything Putin has put forth as policy for the past 2+decades.
