Hi Mathew. I appreciate your writing. Very inciteful and educational. From my viewpoint though, your position on Israel's "Zionist" focus of mainly desiring to build Solomon's Temple and grabbing the enormous chunk of land from its surrounding neighbors is a bit limited in depth is it not? They were promised the great swath of land as shown in your map, by God, in several places in the bible, starting with Abraham. They were never willing to take full possession of the promise of the land due to their lack of obedience. If God lives, which I believe he does, then the promise still holds.
The Jewish people believe that they must rebuild the Temple so that Gods presence can once again dwell with them. This they will eventually do, as spoken of in Revelation in the bible, but will eventually realize is a mistake. So, the factors that you highlight as being Zionist, seem to be led more by what God spoke to them through history, and by the instructions given to them in the Torah through Moses?

For instance : "Zionist leaders in Germany welcomed Hitler's rise to power, because they shared his belief in the primacy of 'race' and his hostility to the assimilation of Jews among 'Aryans'.
