After collecting about 12 pounds of English and Black walnuts, I realized that there is no way I can eat or preserve that much in one winter. I have been leaving a few, every few days now, precrushed, for the family of 3 sibling squirrels that seem to live in my Linden tree. Can I keep it up all winter? I notice squirrels here seek to control the space around the tree where they gather nuts for winter thinking the human is competition .
It appears to be related.

Always was in comfort with nature myself. Squirrel and I are doing fine now once he realized I wasn’t after his nuts.
