This week, Africa expert Lawrence Freeman and I held a long form discussion with hundreds of audience members to discuss the importance of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam, the renewal of Pan Africanism and the oligarchical efforts to keep the African continent locked within the unipolar cage of depopulation and war rather than leaping into a multipolar future.
Matthew, this looks very important and interesting. Ann Garrison has also done a lot of reporting on Ethiopia resisting US domination and promoting its GRD.
But this conversation is almost 5 hours! Can you please give us a bit of a time break-down, so that we can watch/hear segments of it at a time? Thank you!
I agree about the importance of Africa. It's our mother continent and the birthplace of humanity, with many rich and wise cultural traditions and a wealth of knowledge. I did find time to listen to the whole conversation (actually under 4 hours--the last hour is blank), and very much appreciated all the points raised, Matthew's historical and big-picture perspective, and the many comments and questions by participants. Clearly China is playing a more positive role than the exploitative West, but it is ultimately the African people themselves who must be the driving force in each of their nations achieving true sovereignty and manifesting their higher purpose among the world's family of nations. It looks like Ethiopians could be leading the way, so more power to them!
