In this week’s edition of The Great Game, V and I unpack Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act granting rights to all major banks in Canada to become enforcers of a Privy Council led dictatorship with the intent of choking to death every one participating in or providing any financial support to the freedom convoy.
I prefer the lack of dressing a ‘part’ in order to be ‘taken seriously’. Besides, I think I’m permanently turned off those in suits thinking that’s what it takes to get my respect or attention. I prefer judging discourse solely on the words and ideas expressed. And Matt’s are stellar. Learning so much. Damm these past two years have been a steep learning curve.
I get that it's a foreign concept to younger folk, off-putting perhaps, the idea of presenting oneself with respect for both your audience and the content you represent.
But hear me out...
If someone showed up at your wedding, say, or your father's funeral, in a T-shirt, two-days' beard growth, shorts, flip-flops and the omnipresent backwards baseball cap, my guess is you would offended.
Why?
Because to do so would show a lack of respect...
Millenials and younger have grown up in a coddled world where life is an eternal pajama party....
Older generations have experienced the unspeakably high cost of life, struggle and loss, and with it a codified basic respect for the fundamentally tragic human condition (Peterson), expressed in various ways, among them dress and language.
The "Everything's Cool" generation will not survive. It lacks the spiritual and psychological maturity to defend or perpetuate itself.
And from the ashes, someday in a distant future, people wil dress and act with respect again...
I’m a senior. I agree with most of what you say. However, hope you’re not thinking you want government and bureaucrats to ‘legislate’ how people can dress at a wedding. Just sayin. Too many talking heads in suits as it is and too many people don’t look past the costume they’re donning to masquerade as legitimate or worthy of belief. That’s the point. Look deeper than the facade of presentability or a facade of ‘authority’ because that lack of insight has got us in this mess.
Matt, you are such a bright light in this battle for truth, yet you dress onscreen like a punk...
Time for a shirt and tie, my friend. The gift of intellect and reason you have been given deserves to be framed with more dignity.
Your will be taken more seriously by more people.
I'm right about this..
All the best.

Donna,
It's a generational thing.
I get that it's a foreign concept to younger folk, off-putting perhaps, the idea of presenting oneself with respect for both your audience and the content you represent.

Or before.... if we choose....
"Just sayin'"

Donna,
Please.
I don't want any frigging government at all past the basics.
Best
Exactly. They need to stay in their lane. Bankers too.
